Viewing Blog Set1

Avatar was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It starts off with a man named Jake Sully who had a brother named Tommy. Tommy had a PHD and studied the land of Pandora. Pandora is a land where giant blue Native American like creatures named avatars live at. Jake didn't have his legs anymore; I’m amusing he lost them when he was a marine. Tommy ended up dying but there was a specific avatar made for Tommy that Jake was the only one that was able to take over since they were twins. The science in this science fiction story is where the whole labs and different inventions were. They made clones of these avatars so that they can get into these machines and control their clone avatar. Right away Jake loved being an avatar, especially since he could walk now. The whole mission was to cooperate with the avatars and tell them to move because their homelands were under these minerals that cost millions of dollars. It kind of reminded me of how Americans took over the lands of the Native Americans who were here first. Jakes was supposed to make the avatars to trust him and tell them to leave. He ended up learning their ways and loving it. He fell in love with the head chief’s daughter. He ended up choosing the avatars side since the humans destroyed where they lived at and killed many of their kind. It wasn’t fair to the avatars when they showed up with their machines and weapons. Jake and many others felt the same way and stood up for the avatars, some even died for them. In the end, the avatars ended up getting their homes back and the humans left and went back to earth. Jake ended up switching into his avatar body in a ritual. I heard theres going to be a part two to this movie in the year 2017 and I can't wait to go see it !

  1. Can you reflect a bit more analytically on how this movie fits in with the themes of our class?
